Unit 1: Tool Time
I chose this video as an example for how I would like to do my final project because the creator used screen capture software and clear, concise narration to demonstrate the use of a Web 2.0 tool. The screen capture software the creator used allows him to zoom in and out, highlight, and shade different areas of the screen to draw his audience's attention to the areas relevant to his discussion at any given time. His narration is clean and easy to understand, and it supports his objective of introducing his audience to the use of Edmodo. The one thing I would change in order to better connect with my students is the use of picture-in-picture video instead of plain voice-over narration.
Every semester, I have to introduce each of my English, communications, and creative writing classes to the collaboration tools available in Google Drive and Google Docs, as well as several other web-based tools we use in class. And for some, the learning curve is quite steep. I currently use PowerPoint presentations with screenshots and text boxes along with classroom demonstrations to do this. I could save a lot of time and energy if I created videos like the example above.
